This is the sort of learning journey I have been through with Mobile Phone de Bono’s Hats Wiki.
a)
Firstly the vertical way, from bottom to the top, step by step,
reflecting Bloom’s Revised Taxonomy Learning Mode, for me is an
introverted journey of participating in this activity, which only forms a
small section of a bigger vertical learning journey of my understanding
of de Bono’s Hats and Learning - starting from the basic declarative
knowledge acquiring - to define what De Bono’s Hats are and remembering
the function of each hat, to the second step of Understanding, to
comprehend what opinions should each hat represent, to Applying the de
Bono’s Hats into a debate by demonstrating our thoughts in different
hats. The Analyzing stage was then completed by distinguishing the
function and depth of different hats; my conclusions were that a
learning journey can be well guided through using de Bono’s Hats.
Finally I would utilise de Bono’s Hats in my own teaching career, using
it creatively to teach students to think differently on a subject and
eventually to reach a deeper thinking about a certain issue.
b)
Secondly, on a horizontal level, is my experience of collaborative
learning supported by Wikispace. The unique design of Wikispace allows
its certain users to be able to contribute to the same page about the
same topic, for example the mobile phone issue. Ideas were poured into
the same page, dressed with links, photos, videos; conversations were
going on back and forth among students who live in different regions and
access the websites at different times. The contents were then edited,
trimmed and re-arranged by different people; and as a backup function,
history is allowed to be retrieved should we have dispute about an
edited version.
